India is the spiritual home of yoga and Shreyas is, we think, the ideal location for an inspiring, authentic yoga holiday. Set in 25 acres of landscaped gardens, in the heart of the countryside an hour from Bangalore, Shreyas is a stunning and seamless mix of traditional and modern influences - antique doorways and stone pillars opening in to cool, crisp, contemporary interiors and state of the art facilities. The accommodation is superb, by both day and night.
destination yoga is owned and operated by The Healthy Holiday Company, which also owns the in:spa brand
There is a wonderful selection of indoor and outdoor yoga spaces. Guests can relax in individually decorated rooms or unwind by the secluded swimming pool or catch a movie in the private cinema. Meals are served in the gardens, on the terrace or in the restaurant and all meals are lovingly created by the experienced chefs at Shreyas using organic, home grown vegetables freshly picked from the gardens.
The wonderful spa is open to our guests, with a tempting selection of Ayervedic, Thai, Balinese and Aromatherapy treatments.
Destination yoga hosted its first yoga retreat to India in early 2011 and it was such a success that we immediately re-booked for another 8 night trip in early 2012, with Katrina Repka as teacher. It's difficult to over state the quality and comfort at Shreyas, this unique yoga retreat venue in southern India. The Daily Telegraph describes it as ".. a rather special secret amongst well travelled yoga fans" and the gayot.com website, based in Los Angeles, recently announced that Shreyas has been voted as one of the World's Top 10 Yoga Retreats. Here's what they say about Shreyas:
If you're looking for an upscale yogic experience, then point your charkas towards Shreyas Yoga Retreat in Bangalore. Dedicated to promoting the authentic spiritual tradition of yoga in an environment that's normally associated with exclusive hotels, Shreyas is spread over 25 acres of landscaped gardens and utilizes natural resources with initiatives such as rain water harvesting, solar heating, ayurvedic and medicinal herb plantations, organic farming and organic waste disposal on site. Enjoy yoga and chanting classes, massages and meditation and enjoy the amazing meals made from organically grown ingredients freshly handpicked from the retreat's 20 acres of fields. With just fourteen rooms accommodating up to 25 people, personalized service is key.
Whilst most visitors to our website will not have heard of Gayot, they will certainly know of the Relais & Châteaux network and Shreyas is one of just a handful of these in all of India. If you would like to read comments from the guests at our last yoga retreat to Shreyas, please see guest comments
